Diploma in Hotel Management Catering & Technology


School of Hotel Management Catering & Tourism, IIMT University Meerut offers 1.5 years Diploma in Hotel Management Catering & Technology. The DHMCT program is a specialization course that equips you with all the essential skills and knowledge required to excel in a particular area. The curriculum of the course is based on the CBCS pattern and is split into semester system. The college aims to provide academic excellence through modern teaching methodologies and well equipped labs. This specialization course covers the study of one major department out of four during this tenure. During the first two semesters, the students undergo extensive classroom learning in the form of lectures, workshops, practicals, industrial visits and webinars. They are made aware of standard industry practices and are apprised with the skills and knowledge required to be at par with the modern prevailing trends in the hospitality sector. The program is structured in an organized format so as to cover all the major aspects of theoretical knowledge and practical experience. Upon successful completion of the academics in the first two semesters, students undergo a mandatory 6 months industrial training in reputed hotel chains in their final semester.

We offer the following specializations in DHMCT:
a) Diploma in Hotel Management in Food Production: The main objective of the course is to enrich the students with a detailed knowledge of Food Production Operations. DHMCT – Food Production aims to offer expertise to students in the Food Production area. The students of Diploma in Food Production are introduced to fundamentals of food production in the beginning and then gradually go through the advanced concepts of kitchen operations and kitchen management. The college has competent faculties who focus on the all round development of the students. Whilst students gain theoretical knowledge in their class room lectures, lab sessions ensure that knowledge gained is applied well. The college has well equipped labs with modern equipments. The program is structured in an organized format so as to cover all the major aspects of kitchen training – basic, quantity, advanced and bakery. An extra emphasis is laid on practicals to develop fine culinary skills in the future CHEFS of the industry. In the final semester, students undergo a compulsory industrial training of six months in international hotel chains. This training is a specialized training in Kitchen only to apprise the students with the culture and work flow of the department thus enabling them to adapt to the real time settings.


b) Diploma in Hotel Management in Food & Beverage Service: Diploma in Hotel Management in Food & Beverage Service is a specialization course of 1.5 years designed to acquaint the students with a detailed knowledge of Food & Beverage Service. The course aims to provide in depth knowledge about various concepts of Food & Beverage Service in the hospitality industry. Students acquire detailed information on aspects such as types of services, types of service establishments, types of linen used in a restaurant, types of crockery and cutlery, cover layouts for different meals, basic beverages, and basic terminology of restaurants, cocktails and mocktails. Since the service professionals are future food handlers; knowledge of hygiene and sanitation is considered to be equally important. Students are given relevant information on food handling aspects that include importance of personal hygiene, cleaning and care of equipments and various methods of dishwashing. Upon successful completion of the academics in the first two semesters, students undergo a mandatory 6 months industrial training in reputed hotel chains in their final semester.

Apart from chalk the talk; show and tell, PowerPoint presentations, videos and practical sessions form an integral part of learning. The school adopts modern learning methodologies to increase the magnitude of learning. IIMTU Meerut believes in the overall development of the students and offers varied choices in the co-scholastic arena to hone their skills and showcase their talent.
