The Women’s Cell of the IIMT University was established in accordance with the directions issued by UGC and MHRD, and Supreme Court ruling of 1997 on the issue of sexual harassment in the work place. It was formed to empower and uphold the dignity of Women at work.

OBJECTIVE

  • The University aims to provide and maintain a dignified, safe, congenial working and learning environment for women employees and students free from gender discrimination and sexual harassement.
  • It further cultivates the atmosphere where men and women work together towards the growth and prosperity of the institution in a safe and healthy academic environment.

MONITORING PARAMETERS

  • To address the practical issues related to the welfare of and equal opportunities for Women faculty members, staff and students.
  • It has a mandate to address primarily, special facilities and needs (of the Women faculty members, staff and students of the IIMT university)
  • Problems arising out of gender related discrimination.
  • To look into all the grievances of women students/employees of IIMT University.

WORKING OBJECTIVE

  • Identifying strong leadership quality amongst women and facilitate in building their capacity.
  • Promoting a culture of respect and equality for the female gender in the university.
  • Making them aware about the guidelines of Supreme Court and to ensure that sexual harassment is treated as an unacceptable social behavior within the institution and the society.
  • Becoming a resource center by involving students through university social responsibility, to interact with rural and urban women who lack formal education and identify concerns, issues and provide assistance to them in achieving their goals.
  • Continuously reviewing and monitoring safety and security measures for female employees and girl students.
  • Inculcating entrepreneurial attitude among young girls at the earliest so that they can be “job creators” rather than “job seekers”.
  • The victim can lodge a complaint through email, by filling a form or by a telephone call to any of the members.
  • The complaintant’s name and identity is kept confidential.
  • Only victim/parents / heir can file a complaint.
  • If it is proved that the offender has indulged in any activity which is objectionable for the dignity of girls/women, appropriate punitive action will be taken against him, irrespective of his status in the University –whether staff, faculty or student.
