National Cadet Corps (NCC)

The National Cadet Corps is the Indian military cadet corps with its headquarters at New Delhi. National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youths of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.

The National Cadet Corps in India is a voluntary organization which recruits cadets from high schools, colleges and universities all over India. The cadets are given basic military training in small arms and parades. The officers and cadets have no liability for active military service once they complete their course but are given preference over normal candidates during selections based on the achievements in the corps.

 

 

MOTTO OF NCC

Unity and Discipline

The motto of NCC is ‘Unity & Discipline’ which was adopted on 23 December 1957. In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youths hailing from different parts of the country and mould them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.

AIMS OF NCC

  • To develop following qualities in the cadets:- Development of Character. Secular Outlook. Spirit of Adventure and Ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.
  • To create a human resource of Organized, Trained and Motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.
  • To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

OBJECTIVES OF THE NCC

  • Reach out to the maximum youths through various Institutions.
  • Make NCC as an important part of the society.
  • Teach positive thinking and attitude to the youths.
  • Become a main source of National Integration by making NCC as one of the greatest cohesive force of our nation irrespective of any caste, creed, religion or region.
  • Mould the youth of the entire country into a united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.
  • Provide an ideal platform for the youth to showcase their potential in nation building.
  • Instill spirit of secularism and united India by organizing National Integration Camps all over the country.
  • Reach out to the youths of friendly foreign countries through Youth Exchange Programmes (YEP).

NCC SONG

The official song of the NCC-Kadam Mila Ke Chall was adopted in 1963. However, in 1974, a change was felt to catch the imagination of the youths and portray the the true feelings of NCC. As a result the song was replaced by Hum Sab Hindi Hain which kept on playing in RDCs till the word =Hindi‘ was replaced by = Bhartiya‘ in 1980. The NCC song depicts the feelings of unity in diversity and exhorts everyone to march towards the single goal – all being INDIANS.

OATH

“I do hereby solemnly promise that I will serve my motherland most truly and loyally and that, I will abide by the rules and regulations of the National Cadet Crops. Further under the command and control of my commanding officer I will participate in every camp most sincerely and wholeheartedly”. PLEDGE

We the cadet of the national cadet corps, do solemnly pledge that we shall always uphold the unity of India. We resolve to be disciplined and responsible citizen of our nation. We shall undertake positive community service in the spirit of selflessness and concern for our fellow beings. Army Wings – The four cardinals of NCC are: Obey with smile, be punctual, work hard without fuss and make no excuses & tell no lies.

NCC at IIMT University

National Cadet Corps in IIMT University commenced in the year 2016. IIMT University consists of ARMY wings of NCC with SD 50 cadets. The selection of NCC cadets at IIMT takes place in the month of June. Cadets show their excellent display of skill of marching at the Independence and Republic days.

Eligibility criteria

The candidate should not have any backlog in the previous semester exams.

Preferences is given to those who are good in academic and sports
