IIMT University offers two years M.Sc. degree in Statistics.

Statistics is the science of collecting, classifying, presenting, and interpreting data. Statistics enables the type of quantitative reasoning necessary for making important advances in the sciences, such as medicine and genetics, and for making important decisions in business and public policy.

Future Perspective

This programme is considered as a stepping stone to a successful career in statistics. As such there is a wide choice of career opportunities for well qualified statisticians, as banking/insurance, & financial services, information technology, medical research, economic research and public policy, pharmaceutical industry and government bodies. Insurance is one business with an extreme interest in statistics. Actuaries are the (highly paid) specialists who are responsible for compiling and analyzing statistics to order to calculate insurance risks and premiums for a company.

  • Biology for instance, has a discipline known as bio-statistics-a field that is used to calculate an entity as complex as the number of pollen grains on a flower.
