Department of Microbiology

Microbiology is the study of microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi and protozoa. This includes the complex study Biochemistry, Physiology, Cell biology, Ecology, Evolution and clinical aspects of micro organism, including the host response to these agents and their effect on Humans and other natural elements.

University aims in enhancing the abilities and skills of students for application of microbiology principles to the problems faced by various industries and to develop them as intellectual and talented microbiologists.

  • Development of theoretical and practical skills of students to start career in different fields of microbiology.
  • Provides formal training in order to prepare the students as a microbiologist.
  • Department holds a well equipped microbiology lab i.e. BOD incubator, deep freezer, Laminar flow chamber, autoclave and high resolution microscope and Fungal and Bacterial pure culture facility.
  • A well equipped Biochemistry Lab is instrumented by UV-VIS spectrophotometer, Electrophoresis, Cooling Centrifuge, pH meter etc. to train the students in different analytical techniques of Microbiology
  • Creates awareness about micro-organisms responsible for diseases and develop hygienic environment in daily life.
  • Trains the students in tools and techniques of microbiology.
  • Development of interdisciplinary approach in students to synthesize knowledge drawn from ecology, physiology, biochemistry, molecular, biology and genetics.
